Prime Meridian

Day 14
May 23, 2010

Today we all got up and went to the clipper boats on the Thames. And when I say got up and went, I mean we met in the lobby at 1p. I woke up around 11 I believe and looked up the clipper boat times and routes. Basically all of us set out to the water. We met George and his partner Anthony and then somehow I ended up leading the way, not having looked at any directions. I just happened to know what general direction to go. We walk maybe half a block too far, then George helped me read my map and we found the water!

We went to the clipper ship dock and started to buy tickets. There was only one probably teenaged boy taking the tickets. Because of the amount of us and the rush, he let us buy our tickets while we were on the boat. It was nice, mostly indoor because it's a commuter boat but we stood outside for most of it. Then we got off at Greenwich port. We walked through the beautiful lawns surrounding the Royal Naval Library and Chapel and such. There were families and couples scattered everywhere. On those lawns, then on the huge stretch of land up the hill to the prime meridian. At this point we'd split up so I was walking with Nicole, Patrick, Victoria, Jordan, and Nick. We trudged up with steep paved path to the spot. We took guerrilla pictures with the prime meridian instead of waiting in the long line. Then we all walked down the hill, asked someone where they got their McFlurry, and went in search of the golden arches. Nicole and I took off our shoes going through the lawns.

Because of the heat, they were out of ice cream. So no McFlurry for me. We made our way back home. For the evening everyone just hung out in each others' rooms watching Britian's Got Talent and a Michael Buble concert on television. Sounds lame but it was fun going to different rooms spending time with everyone.
