Day 15
Monday, May 24, 2010
I woke up at 7am. Yes, ladies and gents, 7 in the morning to meet Jordan, Stephanie, and Erin at 7:30 in the lobby. Then we made our way to the theatre where Wicked is playing. We were the 2nd in line sitting on the stoop. Somewhere around 8:30 I noticed that I was really itching and then I noticed some what I thought then were bug bites...that kept getting worse. NO. Apparently, I was allergic to my shirt somehow and broke out in a rash. So then I went into the tube station to find help. I ended up buying an over-sized, over-priced I <3 London t-shirt. The line grew really quickly from 9:30 to 10 o'clock and I'm guessing the people in the back didn't get tickets.
Then I ended up wearing the beautiful tourist purchase to our acting for the camera class. It was fun but boring at times... will talk more about it later.
That night we saw Wicked with front row seats. I couldn't have asked for better seats. I could see the exquisite costumes so well and the spit coming from the leads' mouths. Fabulous! The spectacle was ridiculous. I loved it. What voices, too. Amazing.

Prime Meridian
Day 14
May 23, 2010
Today we all got up and went to the clipper boats on the Thames. And when I say got up and went, I mean we met in the lobby at 1p. I woke up around 11 I believe and looked up the clipper boat times and routes. Basically all of us set out to the water. We met George and his partner Anthony and then somehow I ended up leading the way, not having looked at any directions. I just happened to know what general direction to go. We walk maybe half a block too far, then George helped me read my map and we found the water!
We went to the clipper ship dock and started to buy tickets. There was only one probably teenaged boy taking the tickets. Because of the amount of us and the rush, he let us buy our tickets while we were on the boat. It was nice, mostly indoor because it's a commuter boat but we stood outside for most of it. Then we got off at Greenwich port. We walked through the beautiful lawns surrounding the Royal Naval Library and Chapel and such. There were families and couples scattered everywhere. On those lawns, then on the huge stretch of land up the hill to the prime meridian. At this point we'd split up so I was walking with Nicole, Patrick, Victoria, Jordan, and Nick. We trudged up with steep paved path to the spot. We took guerrilla pictures with the prime meridian instead of waiting in the long line. Then we all walked down the hill, asked someone where they got their McFlurry, and went in search of the golden arches. Nicole and I took off our shoes going through the lawns.
Because of the heat, they were out of ice cream. So no McFlurry for me. We made our way back home. For the evening everyone just hung out in each others' rooms watching Britian's Got Talent and a Michael Buble concert on television. Sounds lame but it was fun going to different rooms spending time with everyone.

Hampton Court Gardens
Day 12
May 22, 2010
This morning Nicole and I drug ourselves out of bed around 9 to get ready to go to Hampton Court Palace. I woke up first and quickly though, a nice start to the day. Because Erin remembered several tube stations were down, we took a bus to Waterloo Station (apparently where something in the Bourne movies was filmed). We bought our tickets at the kiosk and hopped on the train just in time. We sat backwards at first but then moved to seats facing themselves. :)
When we got there, we just followed the big group of people across the bridge and through the gates. Got our tickets, took a few pictures and made our way inside. In "Base Court" as they called it, we wanted to take a picture with one of the characters dressed up there. Really he was a tour guide but don't mention that to him. He was dead set on being Sir Seymour (Jane Seymour's brother and Katherine Parr's real lover). Nicole asked him about his "costume" and he got defensive and insinuated that she was naked in the clothes she was wearing when she asked if he was hot. It was interesting, though, to see the slashings and puffings in his sleeves that I learned about in drama class. After that we got headsets for the free audio tour. It was really boring so we turned them in after we did the kitchens. Then we saw the story exhibit for young Henry VIII about Cardinal Wosley and such. We then went into the apartments and out into the garden.
The gardens there are where it's at. The trees were beautifully manicured into triangular shapes in the main garden. We went to have lunch in the Tiftyard cafe then walked around the flower gardens. We went through the maze there. It was a hedge maze (like the one in HP but smaller) and apparently the first of its kind. We "frolicked" through there section called "The Wilderness" and went off the path with no shoes.
We spied on the military and Indian wedding. Their accent color was red.. because she was Indian.. and her white gown had a red inlay in the back and trim. Nicole told her she was pretty when we stumbled upon them taking pictures. We also found a snail in the gardens near the cafe. Of course, we took pictures. We lay about in the gardens for a while, then went back to the main garden where we took pictures of humongous cod fish and a heron. I think the fish were bigger than the bird. Then we lay on the grass some more, took a nap. We hit the Privy garden last. It was so intricately landscaped. Amazing.
After that we left the palace, got an ice cream from a truck, walked around and looked in some antique shops, then headed back where we waited at the train station. Noticed that Erin was sunburnt. Took the train back and we all mostly dozed. Once back at the apartment, Nicole and I surfed the net for a while. I heated up my leftover chinese food while she made spaghetti. Then she took a nap which made me sleepy all of a sudden. I ended up sleeping longer than she did and got ready to go out quickly when she came back in the room telling me where the pregame was and when we were leaving.
I got dressed, drank my remaining can of cider, and left with the group. I got a double jack and coke... trying to stay on budget you know. It wasn't really worth it. The proportion to skeezy guys to fun was undesirable. However, I did have a nice time dancing. Near the end of the night, I called Adam as I was standing outside the club. Since it was already 1:30, I decided to stay there instead of walk back by myself. I talked to him for about 20 minutes.. which I didn't realize and felt bad for afterward since he was at a family gathering. But as usual he didn't seem bothered. We came back, and Nicole made me a little turkey and cheese sandwich while we talked. Went to bed around 3 I think.

Paddling Pond
Day 12
May 21, 2010
Today I woke up to the cleaning lady trying to come into our room and quickly shutting it after seeing us still in bed at 11 am. After Nicole and I actually woke up, I made eggs for us. We both had a nice breakfast of eggs, toast with jam, and tea while we planned our day.
Then I went to Susana's room where she and Erin where hanging out. Erin then proceeded to tell me this story: Erin texted Katie but Katie gave everyone the wrong number which was, in fact, Yaniv's number. Yenive, Erin found out through a string of text messages, a 21 yr. old male who is French but currently interning on Goodge Street. This street is literally 3 blocks away. He also commanded that Erin add him of Facebook and then fall in love with him. This was probably the best story I have heard yet on this trip. And Erin is quite the good storyteller, might I add.
Then they went to shower once we all decided to go to the Queensway Market. Major let down. Once we got there, it was sketchy rooms 20% giving manicures and haircuts for 7 pounds and the other 60% selling hookas. Probably 20% were either electronic or souvenir shops. So after meandering through this place, we stopped at a chinese place to eat upon my request. I ordered roast pork and fried noodles. When my food arrived, I swear it looked like it could crawl off the plate. The pork did not resemble pork. However, it was quite tasty and didn't taste slimy at all. Plus, it was on a bed of crunchy noodles. Overall good choice since I left full.
After that, Susana, Nicole, and I went to the Victoria and Albert Museum. Erin had already been so she met Kelundra and Bridgette in Hyde Park. Once we walked the underground thoroughfare to the museum from the tube station, we went to the museum. The downfall to this, however, was that everyone was stuffed from lunch. We started to drag in this massive hallway of statues. We also went into a fashion exhibit which had designer dresses throughout the past few centuries. I found myself sizing up the attractiveness of the dresses, but it was intriguing to see how the silhouettes have changed. Even though everything was absolutely stunning, we decided to hit a couple more rooms then head home. After the photography exhibit, we went outside to the courtyard. This was probably my favorite part of the day. We took pretty pictures and sat with our feet in the "paddling" or wading fountain. The relaxation and sunshine were so nice.
The rest of the evening was spent back at our flat, mostly online, looking up things for trips, getting hostels and flights sorted out. Of course, we had a surge of people come into the room. It's so nice when everyone powwows in one room. It gets pretty loud but it's fun. We can hear what everyone's plans are as well. Most of them decided to go to the Duck and Dive which is the pub in the ULU building where we have classes, but Nicole and I stayed behind. While they were out drinking, I made a rough budget (after making a rough estimate of all the money I've already spent. Holy cow.) per week for the remaining month we're here. I took a shower and decided to write my blog. :) Tomorrow: Hampton Court Palace with Nicole and Erin and possibly Susana

Teen Spirit?
Day 11
May 20, 2010
OMG, I just got back from the student bar we frequent, The Rocket, and had the best time. I pregamed with 2 Strongbow's and split a pitcher of Sex on the Beach with Susana once we got there. I had such a good time dancing. No skeezy guys hitting on me (just the usual creepers dancing up behind). I just got to dance with my friends. People were dancing much more tonight than previous nights. Apparently when the bar was about to close and they played Nirvana, I was particularly fervent with my dancing skills. woops! I had just a good time. It isn't often that I get the chance to cut loose, be ridiculous and twenty. I think the group is planning on going to a club at some point. What a ride that will surely be.
Then I got home, sweaty and drenched in my new shirt from Primark. Nicole got on her computer (where she is now not listening to me) and I drunk dialed Adam. He happened to still be in the car with Heather and it was raining really hard. Even though I said I'd go, he didn't let me go..... then I heard her say "oh my god, stop the car" so I got off the phone sensing her nervousness. Sheesh. I hope they were okay on the 12 hr. drive to Mobile. Yuck. He seemed happy to hear from me though I talked to him 4 hours previous. Anyway, the earlier part of my day was fun as well
Nicole and I woke up, no lie, around 11:20 when Susana called me about her successful interview. Yay her. So Nicole and I drug ourselves out of bed and made our way to George's flat. On the way, of course, we got lost but I nice man helped us at a bus stop. Then at George's we all talked a little bit about which play we were assigned. Play, Author, Theatre. Then I went with Kelundra and Bridgette to Primark. They needed to return items. So I ended up shopping, standing in the fitting room line FOREVER, then buying 3 shirts. After that, believe it or not, we went to another store that was recommended to us called Topman where I bought 2 rings and a necklace... really a pocketwatch.
Then we came back to the apartment. Nicole was already gone to see Avenue Q (which she loved as well). I was lazy and self indulgent instead of going to a club with Katherine, Elliott, Bri, and Ryan but decided to go out later instead. And quite a few people decided to pregame in our room which was actually nice so I could still look up hostel prices for Dublin.
Now, however, it's close to bedtime. I may take a shower or text Adam back to see how they are.
Sweet Dreams!

Wellcome Warhorse
Day 10
Wednesday, May 19, 2010
This morning I woke up at 7:30 to look at my watch and go straight back to sleep. Then I woke up at 8:30 and took a shower. It was glorious. Promptly returned to sleep in my robe, waking up at 10:30 to get dressed for class at 11. Made myself a pb&j to eat on the walk there.
In class we talked out the shows we saw the past two nights, Women Beware Women and Elevator, what we liked and didn't like. We have several outspoken people in this group so I mainly keep quiet. We tend to talk over each other. THEN, we watched Christopher Nolan's Following for class today. Fairly similar to Momento in style and editing style. Cool story about intrique and such. Of course, we talked afterwards about how it fit into Syd Field's 3 Act structure of a film despite the non-linear format.
After that I went down to the the office where George happened to be. We chatted about UGA's Thalians society because a lot of the seniors are graduating and positions will be open. I wanted to chat with him about how I can get involved. While I don't think I should run for an officer position, I want to propose a show to do next year.
After that I went to a cafe down the street with Susana and had a hamburger and fries. I know I know. We talked about telecom. stuff. Then we met up with Nick and Erin to go to the Wellcome Exhibit. Pretty cool. very medically centered. Very interesting sculptures and medical artifacts.
We went to a cafe and then home to get ready for Warhorse tonight on the West End.
